If you’ve ever been to a trade show, convention, music festival, sporting event, (or pretty much any public space in a major city) you’ve seen a brand ambassador (a staffed representative often handing out free stuff on behalf of a brand). Knowing first-hand how arduous that work can be, we asked ourselves, how could we make the brand ambassador experience better?

You build a robot, obviously.

Introducing the Ambassador Platform — a fully autonomous robot capable of carrying a payload that even the brawniest brand ambassador would appreciate.

Ambassador was designed first and foremost with ease of use in mind. Based off of this principle we chose the Microsoft Kinect to power the device as it can support the likes of gesture recognition, skeletal tracking, and obstacle avoidance. The software also allows users to easily pair themselves with the device by performing a simple hand gesture enabling Ambassador to follow them wherever they may roam.

The body is mounted atop powerful mobility scooter motors, which enable the robot to carry up to 300 lbs. This means that the Ambassador Platform can be retrofitted to carry a large variety of objects; anything from coolers and displays to t-shirt cannons… and even people.
